What is the A. M. E. Church?

The mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberation gospel through word and deed. Each local church of the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society.

African – means that people of African descent organized the church.

Methodist – refers to the church’s membership in the family of Methodist churches.

Episcopal – refers to the form of government under which the church operates.

Church – refers to the “Christian Church,” which is a community of people who believe in God and who have accepted Jesus Christ as the guiding example of their lives. We also believe in the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, who enables the believer to become a true and effective servant of God. Jesus Christ is the spiritual head of the Christian Church.

Quinn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church

Quinn was begun in 1864 by free men and women to be able to worship God freely. In 1868, Rev. B.W. Arnett, who was on the Walnut Hills and Lockland circuit of the African Methodist Church came to Glendale, and on November 23, 1868, organized the society. Quinn Chapel moved from their Glendale location to the Forest Park community in 1983. In 1995, the church facility was expanded and now sits on approximately six acres. Our membership and ministries are flourishing. We praise God because "A New Day Is Dawning".

The Quinn Chapel A.M.E. family ministers to both the congregation and the community, seeking to fulfill the mandate of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ who said "…. When you have done it unto the least of these, my brothers, you have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:31-40)
